Read embroidery patterns

Your embroidery pattern contains all the information you need to stitch your design. You read and stitch a pattern using symbols.

The symbols on the embroidery pattern

A color key (legend) for the thread colors shows all the symbols that correspond to the respective colors.

The color legend shows you which symbol on the embroidery pattern corresponds to which color.

The squares on the embroidery pattern correspond to the stitches on the fabric. Each square containing a symbol represents one stitch.

Laine Colbert Wool from the legend

Wool is most commonly used for half-cross stitch (simple tapestry stitch).
