Instead of using a magnifying glass, embroider on coarsely woven canvas.

There are coarsely woven canvases (stramin, canvas, Aida) where the holes are large enough. Embroidering on these is a good solution.

Which fabrics (stramin, canvas, Aida) might suit you.

If you know how to distinguish between canvas and fabric based on stitch size, you can always buy the embroidery kits that suit you.
