My mother started embroidering tapestries at the age of 77.
This is the first embroidered picture she has completed in three months (65x35 cm, 38 colors of tapestry wool):

Lake George Autumn, 1927 after Georgia O'Keeffe.
She writes to me: "Now I enjoy embroidering almost every day. And everyone likes the result. It was my daughter's idea at first; she brought me an embroidery kit. Of course, I wanted to try it, but I couldn't imagine how much fun it would be."

Ah, for me it's a real discovery that I can embroider with large wool stitches from a pattern. I only embroider in daylight. The paper pattern is also large, and I like to color it in with colored pencils in the evening, so I prepare the areas I'll be embroidering tomorrow. The canvas is stiff and comfortable to hold.

It is advisable to use an ironing board instead of an embroidery hoop.
