Gobelins nach Ferdinand Hodler: Die Sonne im Morgengrauen, die Berge und der Genfersee

Tapestries after Ferdinand Hodler: The Sun at Dawn, the Mountains and Lake Geneva

The embroidered picture: Lake Geneva with Mont Blanc at dawn, 47 colors. Half cross stitch, wool on canvas.

Even though the picture was not painted by Hodler, but embroidered by you, it is a real decoration for your home.

We are delighted that we were able to convey a play of light and shadow in the sky, in the mountains and in the water using a woolen thread.

Ferdinand Hodler, who shaped the image and self-image of Switzerland like no other painter in his paintings, was also one of the most important artists of the transition from the 19th century to modernity.

Our tapestry collection by Ferdinand Hodler presents his three paintings of the sunrise over Lake Geneva, which he painted in the last year of his life (1853-1918). His international significance for modern art becomes particularly evident in these final years (1913-1918). By then, the artist, who had come from difficult social circumstances, no longer had to prove himself to anyone: he had become wealthy and famous. His works became increasingly radical and abstract. Hodler became a forerunner of modern painting.
